Description

6-Benzylaminopurine Powder, BAP Hormone Powder, is a synthetic adenine-based plant hormone used for the sustainable development of auxins. This powder plays a crucial role in stimulating cell division, shoot initiation and proliferation, tissue regeneration, micropropagation, and overall plant growth. It’s particularly effective in triggering shoot formation from plant tissues or callus cultures leading to the development of new shoots or plantlets. This makes B001 a valuable tool for generating genetically identical plant clones or producing transgenic plants for various research or commercial purposes. Results may vary based on the specifications of the experiment. Please consult an expert who has worked with this product for specialized applications.

6-Benzylaminopurine (BAP Hormone)

6-Benzylaminopurine (BAP Hormone) efficiently is a synthetic Cytokinin that in common is an adenine-based plant hormone that helps in the sustainable development of auxins. The effective concentration of 6-benzylaminopurine (BAP Hormone) used in the plant cell culture is respectively 1mg to 10mg per liter [4].

Introduction

  • 6-Benzylaminopurine naturally has the considerable ability to be used as a plant supplement in the plant culture media [5].
  • It is obtainable under the names of various labels like BAP (growth stimulant), Benzyl-amino purine, 6-BAP, Adenine, N-benzyl-, Cytokinin B, and N-Benzyl-9H-purin-6-amine [6].
  • It is attainable in the economic market in the packaging of 100mg, 200mg, 250mg, 500mg, 1g, 5g, and 25g in poly bottles. It is also obtainable in bulk quantities like 1kg, 5kg, and 25kg [5].

Structure

The structure of 6-Benzylaminopurine (BAP Hormone) is shown below.

Figure 1: Structure of 6-Benzylaminopurine [1].

Procedure

The adequate preparation of 6-Benzylaminopurine (BAP Hormone) in the laboratory is typically done in the following way described below [3].

Apparatus and chemicals:

The apparatus and chemicals used in the preparation includes:

Procedure
Apparatus
  • Bunsen Burner, Tripod, and Gauze
  • Beaker, Sterile Bottle, and Volumetric Flask
  • Stirrer, Evaporating Basin, Watch Glass and Filter Paper
Chemicals
  • Adenine
  • Benzoic Anhydride
  • Water
  • Sodium Bicarbonate

Preparation method:

The preparation method appropriately includes the following steps:

  1. Carefully take a beaker and add water to it. Place the beaker on a tripod stand set on the Bunsen burner. Heat sufficiently the distilled water gently.
  2. Typically add 2.25 grams of benzoic anhydride to the beaker with mildly heated water. Stir with help of the stirrer. Subsequently, add 1 gram of adenine to the beaker. Again stir the solution and gently heat the homogenous solution for 10 minutes.
  3. In order to solidify the sustainable solution, typically continue to heat it for further 30 minutes. Then add water to the solution and heat it again for 25 to 30 minutes.
  4. Instantly add sodium bicarbonate to the solution for neutralization and chill.
  5. You can clearly note that crystallization is occurring in the beaker. The next step correctly is to filter the organic crystals.
  6. The evaporating basin is used to evaporate the water in the solution, producing the crystals on the filter paper. By consuming another filter paper, dry the crystals at 100 degrees centigrade.
  7. If the organic crystal melts, it can be recrystallized by using dilute alcohol or distilled water.

Stock solution preparation:

A 1mg/mL stock solution of 6-Benzylaminopurine (BAP Hormone) is typically prepared in the laboratory by following the steps described below [4]:

  1. Add 100mg of the powder form of 6-Benzylaminopurine to a 100mL volumetric flask or other suitable glass container.
  2. Carefully add 2 to 5mL of sodium hydroxide solution to the flask and mix until the powder is completely dissolved.
  3. Continue mixing the solution while bringing to final volume with DI or sterile water.
  4. Store the prepared solution at 2 to 8°C.

Applications

The practical applications of 6-Benzylaminopurine (BAP Hormone) that undoubtedly play an important role in diverse fields at the commercial level are described below [2].

  1. Induce sprouting:
6-Benzylaminopurine  (BAP Hormone) helps in inducing the natural process of sprouting in generating plants or plant-related material.
  2. Seed germination:
6-Benzylaminopurine (BAP Hormone) naturally contains key constituents that properly promote the germination of fertile seeds.
  3. Promote shoot initiation:
6-Benzylaminopurine (BAP Hormone) also plays a significant role in the initiation of growth processes of plant shoots.
  4. Stimulate cell division:
6-Benzylaminopurine (BAP Hormone) naturally stimulates cell division in the generating plants which leads to blossoming and fruit richness in plants [5].
  5. Callus culture:
6-Benzylaminopurine (BAP Hormone) undoubtedly helps in the active growth of the plant’s callus (group of specialized cells) in the culture [9].
  6. Inhibits kinase in plant:
6-Benzylaminopurine (BAP Hormone) inhibits a respiratory enzyme kinase involved in the metabolic activities of a plant’s mature leaves [7].
