Description
TRL01 Trypsin-EDTA Solution (1X), shipped frozen, is used in tissue culture to detach adherent mammalian cells from the culture vessel by breaking down cell-cell and cell-substrate interactions. Trypsin is a proteolytic enzyme that cleaves peptide bonds, while EDTA inactivates calcium and magnesium ions needed for cell adhesion. This process aids in passaging, subculturing, and harvesting cells for downstream assays. Optimal concentration and exposure time must be determined for different cell types to maintain cell viability. After detachment, trypsin activity from TRL01 Trypsin-EDTA Solution (1X) is halted by adding a medium containing serum to protect the cells.
